#15 Get new glasses on Rob's benefits

Well, I finally went out and got new glasses.

I went to Hakim. Cheap, please!

I went and had my friend come with to help pick out frames. We went through the whole store, and I picked out two pairs (it was a deal). I got the quote: $680. Erg. I decided to sit on it for a week, and then go back. If I still liked them, I would get them.

Wellll, I never really went back. I called up about amonth later to see if the same promotion was one (it was) except the quote I got for the SAME THING was now mysteriously $780. Huh. Anyway, I had the first quote written down, so I went a week later tp pick them up, and argue if I needed to.

Well, we got there and the frames were frigging gone. Both pairs. Frustration!

So, finally I told my friend: If you come back with me, help me pick out a couple of pairs, then I promise to pull out the old mastercard and buy them. She graciously agreed. We went back to the store and foudn two pairs. I asked for a quote on one pair, then on both, just to see if I could save lots of cash. It turns out that the difference between one or bboth pairs ws $20, so fine, I was going to get both pairs.

Final quote, taxes in for two pairs? $399. Nice. So, here's what happened:

This pair is metal. The metal is red and there's black on the inside. They kind of remind me of my old pair except I can see through them and they aren't broken, they are comfortable and new. Red and black!

This pair is black and red! Thematic glasses! These ones worry me alittle because even though they feel good, when I go from these to the other pair I feel relief..I think it's more work for my eyes to adjust to this pair so I may have to see if they can adjust them.

Imagine have 2 pairs to choose from every day! Unprecedented.

All that's left is to actually claim the benefits. yippee!

#42 Get out snowshoeing

Holy cow have I been snowshoeing! No pictures, of course, that would only be logical and helpful. Waterloo has gotten good snow storms, and despite the rain now and then, has been great for it.

I went for a jaunt in the park with R for a while, and then later the next week, I went out for a several-hours-long epic journey, through parks and downtown Waterloo with Claire.

It is a work out that is for sure. And I'm glad to finally be using my blasted snowshoes. I got them for my birthday IN april, waited all year, then the snow didn't come until about February, etc etc. I used them maybe once before this year, and so far I'm making up for it.

The major lesson from this for me: I love to go outside int he winter. I love winter. If I am too busy to go outside in the winter I WILL NOT be happy. That's the kind of thing that's easy to forget.

Long live snow days!

Work in progress

I feel like I lost a post form here, but I can't really remember!

Anyway, I've added a few more things t my list, but I'm having a hard time coming up with them. It was easier last time, though maybe this time I feel like I have a better understanding of what should be on my list and what kind of things I actually genuinely want to achieve.

I guess it's getting there. I want to come up with more things tht I can do while in school, rather than waiting till afterwards. It's not like I'm going to have more time!

I guess I'll plug along.

That's it.

Intro slash recap

101 in 1001, oh yeah! I almost forgot bout you till Batman reminded me.

My last effort started December 5th, 2004 and ended September 1st 2007. I stopped working on it a while ago, though.

I completed 40 things on my list, including things like "swim with sea life" [Happened in Australia, it was a squid amongst other things], and "get a real haircut". Boring, but a step in the right direction.

This is the story of my next set.

I'm not expecting to create my list all in one go, but this is where I'll work on it.

This round starts today, January 6, 2008 and ends Sunday, October 3rd 2010. I remember thinking 2007 was a long ways away. Such is life, eh?
